We had two strong earthquakes, one a 5.0, last week. People are wondering, "Is Mauna Loa waking up?" "Is a new eruption imminent?" We take you to "ground zero" in Pahala to answer that question and we also ventured into Volcanoes National Park to show you the map of the two volcanoes side by side to explain a bit about what is going on.
Long story short: Mauna Loa is at a watch level and a swarm of earthquakes HAVE been bedeviling the area. At some point, Mauna Loa, which last erupted in 1984, will have an eruption event. No one knows when.
