Kauai is a proud island holding onto its heritage and way of life If there were a bumper sticker for Kauai, it would read, "Keep Kauai Country". This island's residents love Kauai the way it is and are not proponents of new development. The lush green hillsides remaining as they are now, as a treasured visual asset, is an important part of the culture on this island that was never actually conquered by King Kamehameha.
