What you need to know about the Cesspool/Septic Tank Issue in Hawaii

Did you know that many homes in Hawaii were built with cesspools? There is new legislation that would require homeowners to switch out cesspools for septic tanks. The problem is that they want to require this action sooner than the original 2050 changeover date. This will have impacts on homeowners with cesspools, especially on Hawaii Island AND may have an impact on new buyers who may have to shoulder some of the costs. In this video, Lance Owens, LUVA Realty, and President of the West Hawaii Association of Realtors, discusses the legislation, what it means for homeowners and potential buyers in Hawaii.
